We are a design studio with a clear focus on information design. We have been planning and designing visualisations, signage systems, picture languages, knowledge explanations and documentations since 1994 - always with the aim of enabling orientation through design, imparting knowledge and promoting participation. Our partners and clients entrust us with matters in which the handling of information and its sustainable communication is the focus. We have positioned ourselves internationally with our program and have shown new ways of dealing with complexity in many ways. We share our expertise in research and teaching - always following the idea of help to shape our world of tomorrow. Our projects have received numerous awards and have significantly influenced information design as a professional field in many ways.

duo and design directors, Nanette Amann
and David Skopec.

Nanette Amann studied Visual Communication at the University of Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd. She began her professional career working with Prof. Herbert W. Kapitzki and worked as an independent designer in Stuttgart and Berlin. Since 1995, she has been co-founder and managing design director of kognito gestaltung. She is also a certified business coach and consultant. Her design focus lies in the fields of corporate design, information design, and wayfinding systems.

David Skopec studied Visual Communication at the University of Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd, specializing in information design. In 1993, he co-founded the design studio kognito gestaltung in Berlin, which has since realized projects in the fields of corporate design, information design, and strategic consultancy for companies and institutions. He works as a designer and consultant for knowledge-based organizations and numerous scientific institutions. Following teaching appointments in Mexico, China, and Zurich, he has been Professor of Information Design at the Berlin University of the Arts since 2011.
